Bio

I hold a B.A. in Studio Art from Carleton College and continued my studies in Painting and Illustration at SACI in Florence, Italy. Since then, I’ve worked as a professional artist, illustrator and art educator.

I love to explore nature - searching out beautiful scenes to interpret in paint. I also love to paint people! My childhood sketchbooks are filled with faces (my grown up sketchbooks, too) and I was the kid on the museum field trip standing with her nose up too close to the portraits, trying to understand how it was done. I’m a native of Cincinnati, Ohio, but I tend to move around - always looking for new inspiration! When I’m not painting, you might find me hiking, paddling, reading or gardening.

Artist’s Statement

I’m inspired by the colors and energy of nature and strive to interpret it with expressive brushwork and luminous color palettes. I take every chance to explore new landscapes and find poetic ways to capture them in paint. I hope my paintings give the viewer that thrill of coming across a gorgeous vista, the kind that makes you pause to soak it in.

I’m also endlessly fascinated with the variety of faces in the world. Portraits are more than just a likeness, they capture the character and unique spark of the subject. I enjoy getting to know my portrait clients and consider it a true honor and privilege to be entrusted with painting their loved ones.

My illustrations are perfect for children’s picture books and middle grade novels with themes of inclusivity, magic, mindfulness and nature. I also design repeat patterns and hand lettering for surface design. I work with publishers and select self-publishing authors to create custom illustrations, book layouts and products.
